Defensive Driving

Tractor driving

This tractor driving course is one of a range of tractor we offer, and is approved for accreditation with CPCS
It is an integrated training and assessment course of between two and four days, depending on the driver's experience, for a maximum of four people.
Non-assessed courses are available for 13-16 year olds.


All our tractor driving courses provide both training and assessment to Lantra Awards and CPCS standard.

The Course Includes:

Legislation

Personal safety
Personal protective equipment
Mounting and dismounting
Machine knowledge
Use of manufacturer's handbook
Safe stop procedure.

Observation
All around checks
Direction of travel

General safety
Pre-start checks
Controls and instrumentation
Use of handbrake
Move-off procedure
Use of gears and speed
Manoeuvring

Hitching
Use of fixed attachments (if applicable)
Correct procedures using the pick-up hitch
Correct procedure using the drawbar
3-point linkage and hydraulics
Safety           

PTO operation (not for 13-16 year-olds)
Correct fitting procedures
Guarding
Knowledge

Traveling
Maneuvering with trailed implements
Maneuvering with mounted implements
